More than 4,700 pedestrian were killed in traffic deaths in 2012, and another 76,000 were injured.
Whether your kids are walking to school, the park or a friend’s house, remind them to walk on sidewalks or paths and cross at street corners, using crosswalks. Follow this link for additional tips to make sure they get there safely. Speeding in our neighborhood continues to be a problem. The HOA board has contacted the Sheriff's Department about speeding. They have run a radar survey but did were unable to catch speeders. What can you do? Contact the Sheriff's Department patrol commander, Lt. Brian Mennenga with your observations including specific information that may better engage in enforcement (eg more specific times, directions, days of week that are worse, particular vehicle, etc.). This year the race will take place on September 20 at 8:00am. The race participants should be finished no later than 9:00am that morning. We will be using the same route as last year. The Savoy Orchard Days Festival is fun for the entire family! This year's festival includes carnival rides, fishing derbies and an antique car and truck show. The Matt Poss Band will perform Friday night in the beer tent from 7-9 PM. Also on Friday night, back by popular demand, is Ryan Ideus & Feudin Hillbillys.
