The Prairie Fields HOA Halloween Walk will be held on Monday Oct 31 and will include a costume contest.  A Champaign County Sheriff's Deputy will lead the walk at 4:45pm. The costume contest judging will occur at 4:30pm in advance of the walk. Everyone interested in participating in the contest and the walk should meet at the Prairie Fields Park parking lot just south of Carrie Busey School.

There will be 5 categories, each receiving a $25 Amazon Gift Card:
1. Best family costume
2. Most creative/original costume
3. Funniest costume
4. Creepiest Costume
5. Cutest costume

Only PFHOA residents are eligible for prizes.

The PFHOA-wide garage sale will be Friday 5/20 and Saturday 5/21. Though open to anyone in Prairie Fields, if you let us know you plan to participate, we will loan you a sign to place in your yard during times you are selling items to help guide customers to your residence. The board will also put out signs at each entrance to PF and put an ad in the News-Gazette. To sign up, email us at board@prairiefieldshoa.com. Please include your address. We would like to get the sign back to allow us to reuse the signs. We will want to collect the signs Saturday afternoon after the sale and will pick them up from your yard.

This Wednesday from 6-8pm is the Open House for the Stormwater Master Plan where we are asking for input from Savoy residents, business owners, and visitors to share with us drainage issues you have observed or experienced. Dear Prairie Fields, as many of you know, the existing detention basin on the southeast corner of our subdivision, along South 1st Street, is not functioning properly. Stormwater does not efficiently exit the basin, which leaves the ground saturated.  This has been an ongoing issue for many years, which inhibits our ability to maintain the area and control volunteer growth.  Recently, there have been some complaints from residents near the basin about vegetation on the periphery growing unchecked.  These complaints prompted the board to enlist the expertise of an engineer to review deficiencies in the original basin design and to provide remediation solutions.  The design drawings for repairs and a cost estimate are downloadable below. Since the deficiencies in the basin have been known for some time, the HOA has been budgeting for their eventual repair and none of this work would require a special assessment.  We encourage interested residents to review and to provide comments to the board via email, board@prairiefieldshoa.com.  We would like all comments by March 9th, 2022.  The board will then discuss your comments with our engineer and continue to provide updates to the HOA as the project progresses.  As a board, we feel this project is worthy of undertaking and represents the best long term interests of the neighborhood.  After reviewing feedback from our residents, assuming the project moves forward, our next anticipated step is going out for public bid.

The Village of Savoy changed the posted hours for Trick or Treating, and they are now from 5 to 7 PM on Sunday October 31st, this Sunday.  The costume contest will still be at 5pm, and the parade will be at 5:15pm, as planned.

Come join us at Bill Smith Park, starting in the parking lot, for our annual PFHOA Halloween Parade and Costume Contest on Sunday October 31. The judging for the costume contest will begin at 5pm sharp, so get there early to participate. Amazon gift cards will be awarded to the Best Family Costume ($75), and Best Kids Costumes (top 2 - $50 each). Immediately after judging, a parade around the neighborhood will commence, led by the Champaign County Sheriff's office. Trick or Treating hours in Savoy are from 6 to 8 pm. You must be a Prairie Fields resident to be eligible for the prizes.

I would like to invite you for an exciting training opportunity with AirLife Helicopter and Savoy Fire Department on Monday July 19th. Weather and emergency call dependent the helicopter will be landing at Bill Smith Park around 7:15PM.  Spectators are able to watch the landing from the west parking lot off of Prairie Rose Lane.  After landing and shut down, there will be an opportunity to view the helicopter as well as a question and answer session with the flight crew.
